Computers focus of ACC privacy inquiry

Another investigation in to privacy breaches at ACC has been launched, with the Privacy Commissioner set to make forensic investigations of computers over a leaked email.

ACC Minister Judith Collins today said she had been told by Privacy Commissioner Marie Shroff that an investigation was under way in to the leaking of personal details about ACC client Bronwyn Pullar.

Collins has insisted she is “100 per cent certain” neither she nor anyone in her office was responsible for the leak of an email about Pullar.

Collins yesterday said the email, from former National Party president Michelle Boag, had been forwarded only to ACC board chair John Judge and chief executive Ralph Stewart.

AVON 1 Authorities say two people are under arrest in connection with a nonfatal shooting during a dispute at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Avon.

The Norfolk District Attorney’s office and Avon police say the dispute may have been related to illegal drugs and there isn’t any threat to the community

Authorities say one person with non-life-threatening injuries is under arrest at a Brockton hospital on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Rick Santorum, showing signs of fatigue and frustration while grasping for strategies to right his unsteady White House bid, is trying to derail Republican front-runner Mitt Romney using any means available even contradictory messages.

Santorum has called Romney “the worst Republican in the country” to challenge President Barack Obama, but in a subsequent interview he said he would consider serving as Romney’s running mate.

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics recently issued a news release regarding the 2011 averages for regional and state unemployment statistics.

According to the news release, annual average unemployment rates declined in 48 states and rose in 2 states and the District of Columbia. Eight of the nine geographic divisions reported statistically significant decreases in unemployment rates in 2011. For the fourth year in a row, the Pacific area recorded the highest unemployment rate .

Employment-population ratios decreased in 24 states and the District of Columbia, increased in 19 states, and remained unchanged in 7 states.

On January 18, 2012, the Supreme Court confirmed 6-2 that certain works that had entered the public domain could have their copyright restored. Golan v. Holder, Case No. 10-545. The works affected are estimated to number in the millions and could include films by Alfred Hitchcock, such as The Birds; books by Virginia Woolf, such as Mrs. Dalloway; symphonies by Prokofiev, such as Peter and the Wolf; and paintings by Picasso, such as Guernica.

The decision will not only affect the copyright owners, but also anyone who relies on public domain works, particularly those creating derivative works, reprint publishers, musicians, orchestra conductors, teachers and film archivists.

The case considered the constitutionality of a portion of the Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C.
